Universal Education Two, Shooting for the Stars. (24x36”) While in Grenada we painted murals at a school in the village, while we visited for two months. The school was kindergarten to grade 7 and we created a mural on each floor and a larger mural on the wall below these stairs. The school was beige and boring, but the colours of the murals uplifted the students and they wanted to paint too. So, one day we painted ginger lilies on the wall and then each child had their handprint stamped on the wall, as the flowers. This gave the students pride and ownership in their school, even the teachers joined in. I am a strong supporter of education for both boys and girls, and art across the curriculum is my motto and was how I taught art and media. Now there is art in STEM turning it to STEAM, and we call all shoot for the stars…
