Thank you to everyone for your continued patience and support as restoration work continues at the Okanagan Science Centre following the May 15 fire.
Restoration Progress
Our restoration crews have made significant progress over the last few days. The main floor has now been almost completely cleaned, and damaged ceiling tiles have been removed as part of the ongoing smoke remediation process.
We are currently working toward a phased reopening beginning June 2, with additional updates to come as areas of the building are cleared and prepared for visitors.
MindBlown Festival
Unfortunately, the MindBlown Festival has been cancelled due to the extent of the restoration work required.
We are still excited to partner with the Polson Night Market for the MindBlown Market on Friday, May 22nd. Okanagan Science Centre staff will be there to talk all things science and connect with the community.
Bloomin’ Bingo has been rescheduled to June 5. All purchased tickets will remain valid for the new event date. Guests who are unable to attend may request a refund here: c.courts@okscience.ca

Due to the structural fire that occurred on the morning of Friday, May 15, the Okanagan Science Centre remains closed until further notice.
At this time, a professional restoration company is onsite and air scrubbers are operating throughout the building continuously. All walls and surfaces are being cleaned, and porous materials are being removed as part of the remediation process. Based on the current assessment, the smoke damage is significant, and the facility will remain fully closed while restoration and safety work continues.
Anyone with upcoming birthdays, field trips, or programs will be contacted directly by our staff to make alternate arrangements.
We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience, understanding, and support as we navigate this challenging time.
Memberships remain available for purchase and continue to be fulfilled daily by staff. Ongoing community support through memberships, donations, and engagement helps us continue our work and plan for recovery during this period.
We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.

YES. We have a secondary free-standing building on site that allows us to continue to host birthday parties. We are enthusiastic about providing a great environment to celebrate your child’s birthday, and while not be able to provide all aspects that a party inside our main exhibit area would, we have pivoted to provide a pretty cool experience and we are capping it off with free admission passes to all attendees so they all get to enjoy the Science Centre when it is back in full operation. Contact our office for more details.
